Recently, we've been learning how species can be part of a population, a community, and an ecosystem. We've explored the roles of organisms, food webs, and how biotic and abiotic elements interact in an ecosystem. This week, we took a trip to Burn's Bog to learn more about this unique type of ecosystem. Most of us didn't know much about a bog - acidity makes it different than many of our other local ecosystems and it contributes greatly to our air quality. We also learned how the bog has changed over time and how the highway has impacted the bog's organisms. It was a great day outdoors as we got to explore the bog with a guided tour in French.
