We also spent some time exploring Math problems in our textbook and identifying French vocabulary that would help us understand whether a number should be positive or negative. For example, "déposer" is a positive word while "retirer" is a negative word. You can see a list of some of the vocabulary we practiced in our Math duo tangs; we will refer to it if we need to throughout the unit while we are problem-solving.
Today, we moved on to adding integers. Below you will see an example of what happens when we add negative + negative and negative + positive. This was a good way to help us understand why certain integers added together give us a sum with a specific symbol. We also started transferring this knowledge to pictures and associating it with numbers.
