Next on the agenda in Humanities, we are going to take a look at the role of government in shaping culture. Grade 6 students will be exploring how rights and freedoms can vary in different countries (for example, Canada and Syria) while Grade 7 students will be looking at how government in Mesopotamia changed over time to become the republic that Syria is today. As a whole class, this will also allow us to assess how the actions of government can lead to conflict, which Syria has experienced in the form of a Civil War since 2011.
It's so important that we continue to learn about the past as well as current global issues so we can be informed citizens who are able to see the world from different perspectives. Stay tuned for our presentations in the weeks ahead!
