Yesterday, we were lucky enough to visit Science World! The grade six students participated in the BC Green Games by composting and recycling; Erica, Faye, and Kelly have also been working on a Tassimo recycling project. Because of all their commitment to the environment, both of our classes won a trip to Science World. We visited the sustainability gallery first, where we learned about different ways to produce the energy we need without harming the planet, like wind and water. We also spent quite a bit of time in Sara Stern Gallery learning about animals, their habitats, and even rocks and how the Earth's surface changes over time. Many of us were very interested in the insect exhibits and the fossils. We also saw a model of a beaver habitat! We also participated in one workshop on sustainability. Richard was the staff member that facilitated it and he even spoke French! Many of us had fun competing in teams to win the game show. Overall, we had a great day and learned a lot of new things. We've made slideshows in groups about some of our learning that we will post when they are finished.
