Last week, we began exploring how igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks are all connected through the rock cycle. We modelled the cycle in class using wax crayons, aluminum foil, a spoon, and hot water. We observed how sediments can be compacted together to make sedimentary rocks, melted inside the Earth and cooled again to make igneous rocks, then heated or put under pressure to make metamorphic rocks. Most of us really enjoyed this activity and some of us got to keep our metamorphic crayon
We are a class of Grade 6/7 students in Surrey, BC, Canada. This blog is one way we will share our learning with the world!
